Description

A circle game where we get a taste of what each person has (or has not) done.

Instructions

Circle the group, with each person standing on a place marker of some kind.  One person does not get a place marker, and so stands in the middle of the circle.

The person in the middle says "Have you ever...?" and states something that they themselves have done.  For instance, they might say:

"Have you ever gone water skiing?"

Anybody who has done the activity (e.g. has gone water skiing), must leave their place marker and find a new one.  The person in the middle is looking to get out of the middle by going to a place marker when it becomes available.  The game is typically played with the rule that no-one in the circle can move to the place marker on either side of their starting point.  In other words, they must move at least two markers.

After the shuffle, there should be one person without a place.  They become the next person in the middle, and the game repeats.

Facilitator Notes

The kinds of things that come up in this activity can sometimes tell you how comfortable the group is with one another.  Depending on the population, you may have to put guidelines in place for unacceptable topics.

You may also have to remind the group that this is not a full-contact activity - if a place marker is taken, you cannot push someone off, etc.
