This is the official Chris Wallace web site. Chris is a painter
whose artwork has won him acclaim both at home in Canada and abroad.
Working in the tradition of Alex Colville, Christopher Pratt, and Andrew
Wyeth, Chris’s art is regularly exhibited in Canadian and International
Galleries and private international collections. His work focuses on
the poetic interplay of subject and environment. He also provides art
workshops at educational institutes and other outlets. Click

Born in Dundee, Scotland in 1962, Chris Wallace emigrated to Nova Scotia,
Canada in 1967. He returned to Scotland in 1980 for his post
secondary studies where he met his wife. Currently Chris and his
family of two children reside in Nova Scotia after returning to Canada in
1994.
Chris obtained his Ordinary National Diploma in Graphic Arts, from the
College of Commerce in Dundee Scotland. He then attended Duncan of
Jordanstone College of Art and Design, receiving his B.A. with Honours
(1989) and a
Post Graduate diploma of Fine Arts (1990). Chris is the recipient of the
"James Guthrie Orchar Memorial Award" for Landscape painting, and twice the recipient
of the "Elizabeth Greenshields Award" (1989 & 1991).
One very important side interest of the artist is drumming in Scottish
pipe bands. Chris began drumming in 1974 with the Dartmouth Boys Pipe
and Drum Band winning Champion Supreme in Solo Drumming (NSPBA) in 1978.
In 1980, he played with the MacKenzie Caledonia Pipe Band from Broughty
Ferry, Dundee. In 1986, Chris joined the Tayside Police band which
later won the World Pipe Band Championships, Grade II, and the Champion of
Champions 1991. Currently, Chris is a member and instructor with the
Dartmouth and District Pipe Band.
He was also recently part of a dramatic new development in drum shells: a
double-walled, hollow-core concept that provides a richer sound and more
volume for significantly less weight. In 2004,
Phoenix Percussion Ltd.
was born to produce the new drum shells and develop related products.
